People from Suzuki
got a little nostalgic, because the company decided to revive the series
that has been out of the product line for nearly 16 years. As announced
at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Japanese car manufacturer will again
produce its Suzuki Vitara concept car.
Suzuki presented its iV-4 concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show
last year. We didn’t know much about that the new Suzuki’s vehicle,
based on the iV-4 concept platform, will make the return of Suzuki’s
badge first used by the manufacturer more than 25 years ago, the Vitara.
Nearly 16 years after the last Vitara was manufactured, Suzuki plans
to revive the series this year. Vitara will be in the category of the
compact SUVs, but the competition on this field is high, so Suzuki will
have to do the job right if they want to be successful.
Although the original model comes with a front wheel drive, you’ll
also be able to get yourself a four-wheel drive, but it will cost you
some extra money.
Vitara is supposed to be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel
unit, which is also inside the Sx4 S-Cross. The Vitara is supposed to
hit the showrooms and fairs in UK next year.
The company will offer many personalization choices with this compact
SUV, with many colors and trim customizations. Suzuki stated in an
interview that the “Vitara will have a striking road presence with
distinctive design.”
With Suzuki Vitara’s awaited comeback, experts think that the
competition in the compact SUV space will get tougher, and customers
will have more bittersweets in deciding what vehicle should they buy.
The time will show if the Vitara will help Suzuki to gain the
advantage in the compact SUV market over the ruling Renault’s Duster and
Ford’s EcoSport. Suzuki will reveal more details about the vehicle at
this year’s Paris Motor Show on October 2.
